Olkas cagers wrest crown

TEAM Olkas completed an amazing run that saw them went unbeaten all tournament long as they nipped Bagtik, 90-82, to capture the championship crown in the 1st Lou Ornopia basketball tournament last Sunday at the barangay Calambua open court in San Remigio town, northern Cebu.

Olkas erased a 37-44 halftime deficit by launching a 27-14 run in the third period to take the lead for good, 64-58, with one quarter left to play.

In the other game, San Miguel dismantled Ilihan, 90-66, to bag the third place trophy.

San Miguel went to work from the get go, taking a 44-32 advantage at the turn and continued its attack in the final half to ice the 24-point triumph.

Team Olkas won P10,000 while Bagtik and San Miguel got P7,000 and P5,000, respectively. Ilihan settled for P3,000.

The awarding ceremony will be held on Saturday night in time for the annual fiesta of Calambua in honor of its patron San Vicente Ferrer.
