Security guard killed with hammer, pipe by drinking mates
MANILA, Philippines – A security guard was killed after he was smashed in the head with a hammer and a pipe by his drinking mates in Manila before dawn Monday, police said.
Senior Police Officer 1 John Duran of Manila Police District’s Crimes Against Persons Investigation Section identified the victim as Jomar Oledan, 25, who died on the spot when he was smashed in a scuffle with three still unidentified men.
Duran said Oledan was having a drinking session with the suspects inside the compound of the cargo company he was guarding along Pier 2, Isla Puting Bato in Manila North Harbor around 3 a.m. when a heated argument ensued that led to Oledan’s death.
The suspects immediately fled after the incident, he said.
Oledan’s co-workers were quoted as saying that the suspects were fellow citizens of Oledan in Samar.
Follow up operations are being conducted for possible arrest of the suspects.
