One hurt as train hits car on Laguna railway

MANILA, Philippines—A woman was injured when her vehicle was hit by a train in Laguna Wednesday morning, police said.

Chief Superintendent Benito Estipona, Calabarzon regional Director, said the incident occurred along the railway of Pacita complex in San Pedro Laguna around 9 a.m., involving a Honda CRV (XBE 866) driven by Larissa Abordo, and a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train.

Estipona said Abordo was driving her vehicle with a companion along the railway when her vehicle was hit by the train.

A radio report quoted a witness as saying that the CRV had stopped in anticipation of the incoming train, but the front part of her car was blocking the railway.

They allegedly tried to call the attention of Abordo to tell her to move her vehicle, but to no avail because she was on the phone with someone.

Estipona said Aborado only sustained minor injurie, but was in a “state of shock” because of the incident. Her companion was, meanwhile, unharmed. The CRV incurred damage at the left side of its front.
