MANILA, Philippines — A policeman who disappeared after being charged with sexually abusing his daughter 22 times was arrested in Quezon City last week.
The Valenzuela City police identified the suspect as Daniel Gabion, 41, a former member of the Northern Police District’s Public Safety Battalion and considered the second most wanted man in the city.
He was arrested at his hideout in Santa Lucia, Novaliches, late Wednesday afternoon.
Before he went absent without leave, charges for 22 counts of rape and violation of the law on violence against women and children were filed against Gabion in the Valenzuela prosecutor’s office.
Earlier this month, the Valenzuela police received a tip that Gabion was staying in Novaliches. This was confirmed in a surveillance operation with help of the Quezon City police.
Gabion tried to elude capture on Wednesday by fleeing his house when he learned that an arrest party was out to get him. He was eventually cornered while hiding in an apartment in the area.
