Small quake jolts Northern Samar

MANILA, Philippines—A magnitude 3.9 earthquake jolted parts of Northern Samar Thursday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

In an advisory, Phivolcs said the tremor was recorded at 2:49 p.m., with the epicenter plotted 51 kilometers northeast of Palapag in Northern Samar.

The agency said the tectonic quake had a depth of 10 kilometers, adding that no damage has been reported.

Aftershocks are not expected, it added.
