Two of three burglars were killed in a shoot-out with the police who became aware of their presence after one of the thieves accidentally fired his gun as they were trying to break into a house in Quezon City before dawn Tuesday.

Case investigator PO2 George Caculba described the two dead men as between 25 and 30 years old, of medium build, with fair skin and around 5’4” in height.

One had a “BNG” (Bahala Na Gang) tattoo on his back and was dressed in a black shirt and black pants.

Meanwhile, the third burglar escaped on a blue tricycle in the middle of the firefight on 10th Street in New Manila, Quezon City, at 1:45 a.m.

According to Galas police station commander Supt. Norberto Babagay, the house that the men were trying to break into had been burglarized twice in the past.

During these instances, the robbers tied up all the members of the household, he said.

Babagay, however, clarified that the two dead robbers were probably members of another group since the family which lived in the house did not recognize them.

On Tuesday morning, the three men were trying to break into the house but their bolt cutter could not cut the metal lock on the gate.

“One of them apparently got nervous and accidentally fired his gun. The bullet then hit a glass window in the house,” Babagay said. At that time, the occupants were all fast asleep.

By chance, a group of policemen who on patrol were about a block away and heard the sound of gunshot. They promptly went to 10th Street to find out what the matter was.

Upon seeing the policemen, the three burglars ran toward their blue tricycle, firing shots as they fled.

Babagay said his men were forced to fire back, killing two of the men on the spot.
