CABANATUAN CITY

Police uprooted over 1,000 marijuana plants and seedlings in the uplands of Carranglan, Nueva Ecija, on Thursday.

Senior Superintendent Crizaldo Nieves, Nueva Ecija police director, said policemen had to travel for two and a half hours to reach a 150-square-meter plantation in Sitio Calbelo in Barangay (village) Piut, where they uprooted the plants. No caretaker was arrested in the plantation.

Last year, a team from the police and military destroyed a marijuana plantation in Sitio Sabado in the same village, uprooting about 500 fully grown plants.  Armand Galang, Inquirer Central Luzon
