2 robbers tagged in guard’s killing identified

/ 11:43 PM March 18, 2013

The Quezon City Police District has tagged two men who allegedly shot and robbed a grocery store’s security guard earlier this month. Insp. Elmer Monsalve, homicide section chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said the two men were identified through the police’s rogue gallery.

However, he declined to identify them to avoid jeopardizing ongoing manhunt operations. The two men were tagged in the killing of security guard Romeo Roxas, 53.

The victim was shot dead on March 6 after which the robbers took the earnings of the Grocer Minimart in Barangay (village) Nova Proper amounting to P41,300.

Monsalve said the establishment had a closed circuit television camera but the footage only showed the top of the suspects’ heads.

A tipster, however, confirmed that those caught on camera were the same ones that witnesses had earlier tagged.

The footage showed that Roxas was about to open the gate of the grocery’s office on Ramirez Street to escort the cashier who was carrying the money when two men approached them and shot the victim in the back.

The other then grabbed the money from the cashier. Julie M. Aurelio
