CEBU’S bloggers toured Olango Island as one of their stops in their “Mob Trip” or mobile trip to wrap up a Social Media Influence Summit held in J. Center Mall Mandaue City last Saturday.
The bike tour consisted of 11 stops in the island’s barangays where they got to sample native bread in barangay Sta. Rosa, a homemade biscuit named “Salvaro” in barangay San Vicente and “Lamaw”, an iced coconut drink in barangay Sabang.
They also visited Olango’s bird sanctuary and ate “puto balanghoy” (cassava cake). The tour was made possible through Lapu-Lapu City’s tourism office.
“These dishes and tourism sites introduce us to Olango as a tourism destination not to be missed in Cebu and we’ll promote it through our blogs,” said Ruben Licera, president of the Cebu Bloggers Society.
He said he and other Cebu bloggers are setting up a website to help promote Olango Island called Olango My Getaway (OMG).
“We are now getting the island ready for tourism as it will be in great demand in the future as part of Lapu-Lapu City’s efforts to become a prime tourism destination,” Lapu-Lapu City tourism officer Hembler Mendoza told reporters. Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
