Teenage boy drowns in Manila public pool

A 14-year-old boy from San Juan City drowned in a public swimming pool near Malacañang Saturday morning, the Manila Police District said.

PO2 Anthony Bocan of the MPD homicide section identified the victim as Timothy John Borlain, a sophomore at Victorino Mapa High School and a resident of Little Baguio Street, San Juan.

Borlain was then in an outing with his classmates at the Student Club House pool on Abreu Street around 10:30 a.m.

Witnesses said they saw him flailing his arms for help before going underwater in the deepest part of the pool.

A lifeguard got Borlain out of the water but failed to revive him. Nancy C. Carvajal
