Left to stink, life cries out on QC street
From a dingy enclosure on the street came a cry to live.
A team from the Quezon City Police District’s Station 12 was on patrol in Barangay (village) Bagumbayan around 4 a.m. on Friday when it picked up baby sounds somewhere along Calle Industriya.
The sounds led them to a public urinal—where they found her, wrapped in a shopping bag for shoes.
Barangay Bagumbayan chairman Elmer Maturan said a girl about a month old was found abandoned at the urinal and was turned over to his office by the QCPD team.
All soaked and crying, the baby looked pale, almost yellowish as though stricken with hepatitis, and initially refused to take milk from a bottle, prompting Maturan’s staff to look for a nursing mother in the village who could feed the infant.
