MANILA, Philippines—Expect thunderstorms during the afternoon, the state weather bureau said on Friday.
Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said in a Radyo Inquirer interview that thunderstorms will be common, particularly in the afternoon, during the months of March, April and May.
He attributed this to the presence of cumulonimbus clouds, which trigger thunderstorms, hailstorm and extremely strong winds called “downburst.”
Some parts of Quezon City on Thursday experienced hailstorm, injuring several persons when hailstones hit the windows of a fast food joint.
