Metrobrief: Banal exhibit ongoing till April 12 at CCP

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and Visual Pond present “A reading of brightness, dark clouds surrounding,” an ongoing art exhibit by Yason Banal at the CCP Bulwagang Fernando Amorsolo. From 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Banal and curator Clarissa Chikiamco will talk about his work at the MKP Hall on the fourth floor of the CCP Main Theater Building. Banal graduated from the University of the Philippines and Goldsmiths, University of London. He has done residencies at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam and AIT in Tokyo as well as visiting lectureships at the London Metropolitan University and Tokyo University of Fine Arts. His works have been exhibited at the Tate, Frieze Art Fair, IFA Berlin, The Courtauld, Sotheby’s,  Guangzhou Triennale, Singapore Biennale, Oslo Kunsthall and most recently, at The Queens Museum of Art, Shanghai Biennale and Sharjah Biennale. The exhibition runs until April 12 with gallery viewing hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays to Sundays.
