4 Hall of Fame awards for Pangasinan

PANGASINAN—The Pangasinan government on Tuesday received four Hall of Fame awards from the Regional Development Council for its outstanding performance in various local governance categories.

The province was elevated to the Hall of Fame as the Ilocos’ Best Performing Local Government Unit (LGU) in Local Governance, Best Millennium Development Goals Implementer, Champion for LGU Best Practices and Best Project Implementer after it received top honors in each category from 2010 to 2012.

The province’s winning entry for the LGU Best Practices award was the rice seed production and distribution project. Benita Pizarro, provincial planning and development officer, said the project promoted people empowerment and organic farming by increasing rice harvest and income of farmers.

Pangasinan is also the regional champion in the Gawad Pamana ng Lahi of the Department of the Interior and Local Government and a Hall of Fame awardee in coastal resources management. Gabriel Cardinoza, Inquirer Northern Luzon
