MANILA, Philippines – The United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) is gearing up for some friendly competition when it takes its campaign to Baguio City on Sunday, the same day the Liberal Party-led (LP) coalition is set to endorse its senatorial bets in the summer capital.

UNA secretary general and Navotas Representative Toby Tiangco on Wednesday extended an invitation to LP spokesman and Marikina Representative Miro Quimbo to see for himself the huge turnout of UNA supporters at rallies.

“They have poor crowd attendance in all of their rallies and public interest in their candidates is low even if the President is there to give them support,” said Tiangco.

The UNA official has dubbed the Team PNoy as “Team Proxy” due to its candidates poor attendance in its sorties, indicating the rival group is falling apart.

Tiangco blasted Quimbo’s earlier statement that Team PNoy candidates took a more personal approach to their campaigns instead of the usual song and dance strategies to draw crowds.

“Ngayon kinakain nila ang kanilang sinasabi at sumasayaw din ng Gangnam. At least nagpapakatotoo kami, and we’re not pretenders,” Tiangco said.

He also slammed LP-led coalition’s statement that it prefers smaller venues for its personal approach as “a convenient excuse for LP which could hardly attract crowds.”

“They can’t even fill half of the venue,” Tiangco said.
