The former boyfriend of the 24-year-old female student of University of San Jose-Recletos (USJ-R) who figured in a sex video scandal that went viral underwent a lie detector test at the National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas yesterday afternoon.

Accompanied by his lawyer Chevrolie Maglasang, Mario (not his real name) voluntarily apeared before the NBI to prove he had nothing to do with spread of the sex video.

“We came here to shed light on the investigation. It’s up to the NBI to determine whether he is a suspect or a victim,” Maglasang told the reporters.

The lie detector test lasted for about two hours.

FEATURED STORIES

Mario, an 18-year-old graduating student in one of Cebu’s universities, declined to answer questions from the media. He asked Maglasang to answer in his behalf.

Maglasang said they are exerting efforts so the truth behind the uploading of the sex video will be revealed.

“There are speculations that he (Mario) was the one who uploaded the video in the internet. In a way, we’re hoping that his decision to undergo a polygraph exam will absolve him of any doubts in the eyes of the public,” she said.

A lie detector test, she said, is not admissible in court yet they chose to let Mario undergo the procedure.

“A polygraph exam has no bearing in court but at least on the mind of the public, our client is cleared,” Maglasang said.

Results of the lie detector test will be sent to the NBI central office in Manila for approval, said NBI-7 polygraph examiner Zari Zamora.

Results

He said he already knew the results yesterday. But he declined to reveal them to the media.

The results of the lie detector test will be used by the NBI-7 in their investigation to find out who uploaded the sex video between Mario and her ex-girlfriend.

The face of the man in the viral sex video was not identifiable.

Mario, a marine transport student, earlier told the NBI that the cell phone he and his partner used in recording their tryst got lost in August 2011.

He mentioned names of the people who were with him when his cellphone was lost.

Direct link

The NBI decided to ask Mario to explain since he is the direct link that may lead to those responsible for uploading the video into the Web.

The NBI led by supervising agent Rey Villordon earlier planned to summon Mario’s companions.

He said Mario could be charged under the Anti-photo and video Voyeurism Act if they find out that he was the one who uploaded the sex video on the Internet.
