100 sacks of garbage retrieved

/ 08:11 AM March 13, 2013

MORE than 100 sacks of garbage were retrieved from the coastal area of barangay Pajo below the old Mandaue-Mactan bridge.

Last Thursday, more than 100 volunteers composed of Lapu-Lapu City policemen led by Senior Inspectors Maria Aurora Rayos and Joeson Parallag, barangay officials and residents joined the half-day coastal clean-up.

Most pieces of garbage were dragged to the shore by big waves and sea currents and were just left there for several months without being picked up by garbage trucks. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
