ANOTHER PBA discard has found a new lease on life as Justin Williams has been tapped by the San Miguel Beermen to be their new import in the Asean Basketball League to replace the ailing Gabe Freeman.

Williams, an import known for his defensive prowess, was recently released by the GlobalPort Batang Pier in favor of Walter Sharpe.

However, as fate would have it, Freeman is not expected to return to action for another three to four weeks prompting management to seek Williams to pair up with their other reinforcement, Brian Williams.

Williams was the PBA’s leader in rebounds at 19 per game as well as blocks at more than four per outing. He is the second import to be tapped by San Miguel after former San Mig Coffee import Matt Rogers.

He will suit up for the Beermen starting this Friday when they travel to Vietnam to take on the Singapore Slingers. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
