GERPAUL Valero overpowered Jonathan Ricablanca via fourth-round knockout last Saturday in the Champions of the Future fight card at the Panphil B. Frasco Memorial Sports Complex in Liloan town, northern Cebu.
Valero used a variety of combinations to the body and head to pick apart Jonathan Ricablanca and unleashed a hard right uppercut to the body in the fourth, sending Ricablanca crashing to the canvas.
Referee Teddy Alivio reached the count of ten at the 53-second mark.
Rajah Renoel Pael beat a game and rugged Ryan Bongcawil by unanimous decision in another bout.
Pael dictated the tempo with his crisp left jab and one-two combos to neutralize Bongcawil’s swarming offense. The scores read 97-93, 96-94 and 96-94.
Jayson Redondo Singwangcha used a right hook to send Elmer Colve down for the count in round two. Referee Tony Pesons signaled the end at the 45 second mark.
Ardie Boyosi Singwangcha knocked down Jeffrey Jimenez with a right uppercut to the body and then sent him down a second time with hooks to the head. Referee Ben Necesario stopped the carnage at 2:23 of the first round.
It was sweet revenge for Rodel Wenceslao as he stopped Sesustener Llanera Singwangcha in the seventh round. Wenceslao was wary of Llanera’s power in the early rounds and was content to box from a distance.
In the seventh, Wenceslao’s right cross to the jaw and left hook to the liver area sent Llanera down. He got up glassy eyed and wobbly prompting referee Teddy Alivio to stop the fight at 1:39. Llanera was ahead on two of the judges’ cards. Wenceslao lost to Llanera by TKO in Mactan last year.
In a fast-paced brawl, Neil John Tabanao Singwangcha beat Jun Ryan Quimbo by unanimous decision after six rounds. The scorecards read 58-56, 58-57 and 58-56.
Kenny Demecillo Singwangcha knocked out Bryan Samson with a brutal body attack at the 1:34 mark of the third round.
Joey Canoy Singwangcha also won by first round technical knockout when he downed Keith Batolenyo three times in the opening round.
Belmar Plaza and Junel Lacar battled to a majority draw. In the first bout of the night, Jonathan Francisco Singwangcha won by unanimous decision against Nike June Quinaadman. /correspondent Rene Bonsubre, Jr.
