UV cagers win 2nd straight in NSBC hoop

THE University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers continued to flaunt their offensive firepower as for the second game in a row, pulling off a 129-38 win over the Pilgrim College of Cagayan de Oro City during the 65th National Students Basketball Championship in Don Carlos, Bukidnon.

It was their second straight win for the wards of head coach Felix Belano and team manager Samsam Gullas, who are itching for redemption following their title loss to Southwestern University last year.

New recruit Mike Harry Nzeusseu led UV with 26 points while reigning Rookie of the Year/MVP Wowie Escosio added 14.

Meanwhile, the reigning champions Jose Maria College gained its third consecutive win after it eked past Cagayan de Oro College, 73-70. Earlier in the day, it also got past the University of Luzon, 74-70, for a league-leading 3-0 (win-loss) mark. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
