MANILA, Philippines—Two people were wounded and roughly 20 families were displaced when fire swept through several houses in Malabon City early Thursday, a city fire investigator said.
About 10 houses along Gulayan Street in Barangay (village) Catmon in Malabon City were gutted by the blaze that broke out at 7:45 a.m., Fire Officer 1 Veronica Magada said.
“Ayon sa mga residente, bigla na lang nagliyab iyong bubong ng tinitirhan ni Josephine Ramos (Residents said the roof of Josephine Ramos’ house suddenly burst into flames),” Magada said, adding that the cause of the blaze has yet to be established.
Two residents sustained injuries. Jolito Bernardes sustained burns at the left side of his face while Fordeliza Miraquenta was by a piece of metal that fell on her head.
The cost of damages was placed at P200,000, Magada said.
