MANILA, Philippines — Senator Panfilo Lacson on Thursday said he has accepted an “exciting” and a “very interesting” position in the Aquino administration which he declined to identify.
Lacson said he was not at “liberty” to disclose his discussions with President Benigno Aquino III though he said he has already accepted the post “in principle.”
“In principle, yes,” he said when asked during a regular forum at the Senate if he had accepted the offer.
“Of course I want to know the details first. How much authority will be granted. Because when I accept a position I want to perform [well]. You see if it’s a paper position…you’re bound to fail.”
Asked if it was a new position, Lacson said: “It’s an exciting position, very interesting.”
“You’ll find out later. When I get on board, it’s going to be exciting. And I’ll create more enemies,” he said.
Lacson, whose term in the Senate will end this June 2013, was head of the Philippine National Police during the time of then President Joseph Estrada.
