Man gunned down in Lapu

A 30-YEAR-OLD man was shot dead by a still-unidentified man in barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City Monday evening.

Rodel Almonicar was found sprawled on the ground with gunshot wounds in the head, shoulder and back.

Three empty .45 caliber pistol shells were recovered in the crime scene, police said.

Police said no one in the area was able to identify the assailant.  The victim was buying toasted bread from a store prior to the attack. He was walking along a dimly-lit road when he was waylaid.

Police said the assailant walked to the side of the road and rode a motorcycle driven by another man.

Paramedics from the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation brought the victim to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital where he was declared dead./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
