Venezuela’s Chavez dead—VP

CARACAS—Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez died Tuesday, Vice President Nicolas Maduro announced, shortly after Caracas revealed that the cancer-stricken leftist icon was suffering from a severe infection.

“We have received the hardest and most tragic news that… comandante President Hugo Chavez died today at 4:25 p.m.,” Maduro said on state television.
