ANGELES CITY—Friends and classmates of a 17-year-old campus beauty queen, who was stabbed and killed in a dormitory here on Saturday, have tapped the social networking site, Facebook, for their campaign for justice for her.
Created on March 2, the “Justice for Danni” page is drawing hundreds of likes.
“Danni” is Danielle Louise Conde, an engineering student at Holy Angel University here. She died of several stab wounds inflicted by a man who forced open her room at her apartment on Quirino Street in Barangay (village) Sto. Cristo on Saturday afternoon, police said.
A taekwondo athlete, Conde managed to leave the room, walk the hallway and reach the staircase in an apparent attempt to get help. She died while being taken to Angeles University Foundation Medical Center.
A computer-generated sketch of the suspect, derived from information by witnesses, was finished on Monday, said Senior Superintendent Jose Hidalgo Jr., city police chief.
A reward of P100,000 has been put up for any information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect.
A police report said a group of boys playing basketball near the apartment heard a voice shouting for help and saw a medium-built man leave the apartment. The man wore blue pants, a gray shirt with red stripes and rode a red mountain bike. He fled toward Barangay Lourdes.
Police reported raising an alarm and setting up checkpoints to arrest the suspect. Reports said the suspect entered Conde’s room by removing its metal window railings.
Conde’s wake is being held in her hometown of Capas in Tarlac, north of this city.
The Facebook page generated outrage and appeals for justice. Some expressed grief for the young woman’s death. Others urged police to arrest the suspect immediately. Tonette Orejas, Inquirer Central Luzon
