Beermen nip Dragons

WITH TWO key players out, Matt Rogers and Fil-Italian guard Chris Banchero took the chance to steal the spotlight as they helped push the San Miguel Beermen past the Westport Malaysia Dragons, 77-66, in the Asean Basketball League last Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena.

Rogers, the former import of San Mig Coffee who was tapped to replace the injured Brian Williams, had 21 points, the same as Banchero, as both bucked the suspension of Gabe Freeman and the nose injury of Eric Menk.

RJ Rizada also had 10 points while Asi Taulava turned back the hands of time and had six points, 10 rebounds and two blocks on his 40th birthday./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
