2 DIE IN CAMOTES ROAD ACCIDENT

TWO men were killed when a government-owned Multicab driven by a barangay captain hit a tree in barangay Campo, San Francisco town, Camotes Island, Cebu.
Maximo Miao and Renie Nudalo died on the spot.
The driver of the pick-up type Multicab, Western Poblacion barangay captain Ramon Donaire Rocacurva, was reportedly drunk in Thursday afternoon’s accident, PO1 Niño Cabaron said.
The Multicab with plate number SJK-77 had nine passengers.
Police said the vehicle was running at high speed when Rocacurva lost control of the wheel.
The Multicab rammed into a Gmelina tree at the side of the road, throwing the passengers off the vehicle.
Miao and Nudalo were declared dead when they were brought to the Ricardo Manigo District Hospital.

TRADER SHOT IN COMPOSTELA

A 50-YEAR-OLD piggery owner was shot and wounded by motorcycle-riding assailants while he was driving home in barangay Estaca, Compostela, northern Cebu.
William Mahinay Pareja was wounded in the right leg and buttocks.
Police said Pareja was driving a Multicab on his way home after visiting a friend when he was attacked around 11 p.m. last Thursday.
Pareja was about to turn left in an intersection when the assailants, who had been tailing the victim, drove near the Multicab and opened fire, PO2 Arne Goc-ong, investigator of the Compostela police, said.
