Orchids take center stage at garden show in Quezon City
To mark 67 years of conserving, propagating and growing orchids, the Philippine Orchid Society is holding its Annual Orchid and Garden Show until March 11, featuring the best Philippine orchid species in bloom at Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City.
The show aims to promote awareness and conservation of local flora which has contributed a lot to the development of new and outstanding orchids worldwide.
Vangie Go, president of the POS, said the country has been blessed “with a high level of diversity when it comes to orchid resources. Of the 1,000 or so orchid species known, about 90% is purely endemic to our country.”
Participating in this show are the country’s top orchid collectors and hobbyists who will be setting up exquisitely landscaped exhibits featuring their orchid collections and other rare and unusual plants.
Everyone is invited to attend the daily free lectures and the plant bazaar that will be set up on site.
For more information, call the POS Secretariat at tel. 9294425 or text or call 0917-8485468. The show is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Entrance fee is P30, and P20 for students and senior citizens with valid IDs.
