LS upsets Yayoy’s Grill
LITE Shipping 2001 pulled a rabbit out of its hat as it upset the heavily favored Yayoy’s Grill 2002, 67-66, in the Division 2 semifinals of the University of San Carlos Boys High Alumni Basketball Association (USCBHABA) last weekend at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.
The presence of former two-time Cesafi MVP Enrico Llanto was not enough to push Class 2002 into the finals as Lite Shipping’s cohesiveness and shot-making proved to be too much to handle.
AJ San Juan led the winners with 10 points in a balanced attack to offset the 24-point performance of Llanto.
Lite Shipping will be facing in the finals the youthful Gold Funds 2011, which will be led by Southwestern University hero John Pajantoy, along with Dave Guardiario and Anthony Romaguerra.
The finals will be held this weekend at the Cebu Coliseum.
Meanwhile in Division 1 action, B95 and RMI Cockpit Arena advanced to the semifinals after beating their respective opponents in the quarterfinals.
