The alleged gunmen in the killing of a Pasay City judge’s driver, who was shot when he refused to turn over his employer’s sports utility vehicle to the carjackers, are now in the custody of the police.
Chief Insp. Rodelio Marcelo of the Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit named the suspects as Garry Ceriaco, 37, and Carlo Montalbo, 47.
They were identified by several persons who saw them shoot Marlon Quicho, 38, in front of the house of his employer, Pasay City Judge Racquelen Vasquez, the owner of a black 2010 Mitsubishi Montero Sport (NGP-591) the victim was driving.
Marcelo said the suspects were among four men who were arrested by QCPD operatives last week for forcibly taking another Mitsubishi Montero in Mandaluyong City.
The pair, along with Erick Equila, 31, and Reynaldo Peralta, 40, were arrested at a police checkpoint at the corner of D. Tuazon and Cuenco Streets in Barangay Lourdes, Quezon City, early Monday morning, a few hours after the Mandaluyong City incident.
The two were on board a stolen Toyota Innova without a plate number when they were apprehended.
Police recovered a .380 caliber Beretta pistol and two .38 caliber revolvers from Ceriaco, who passed himself off as a Marine reservist.
The suspects admitted that they were behind the stealing of a Toyota Fortuner in Mandaluyong City, police said.
The SUV was eventually recovered at a car repair shop in Barangay Old Balara in Quezon City.
Homicide charges will be filed against the suspects in the Quicho slay in the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
Apart from the carjacking charges filed against them, the pair will also be indicted for their participation in the Mandaluyong City robbery.
