CFA teams off to hot start in PFF

TEAMS of the Cebu Football Association (CFA) opened their campaign in the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Festival of Football Visayas eliminations in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on a high note yesterday with the Boys Under 13 winning both their matches and the Girls Under 14 splitting their first two games.

Loyd Soco of the Banilad Elementary School scored a hattrick in CFA Boys U13’s 5-1 win over Negros Oriental Football Association (NORFA).

Pietre Dakay of Paref Springdale and Joshua Shields of INCH contributed the rest of the goals. Soco and Shields both belong to the Giuseppe Football Club.

In their second match, the team defeated Iloilo Football Association (IFA), 2-1.

IFA found the back of the net first but CFA was able to level the match when Ivan Ouano of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) scored on a penalty.

The winning goal was scored by Carlos Berlin of Ateneo de Cebu (AdC) in the dying minutes of the ballgame.

The Girls Under 14, on the other hand, bowed to Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) in its first match but recovered with a 3-1 win against NORFA in the second match.
