No new justice hall in sight

ILOILO CITY—President Benigno Aquino is inclined to support the retrofitting of an old building for use as the city’s new Hall of Justice.

In a press conference at the Iloilo provincial capitol on Thursday, the President said he would rely on structural engineering experts to determine whether to repair or replace a damaged building.

He cited the case of his former office, the Premier Guest House in Malacañang, which has been undergoing retrofitting after it was determined to be not compliant with building standards to withstand a 7.2-magnitude earthquake.
