Peñalosa brothers to fight in Macau

UNBEATEN blue chip prospects Dodie Boy Peñalosa Jr. (10-0, 10 knockouts) and his brother Dave Peñalosa (5-0, 3 KOs) will be facing Thai boxers in Macau on April 6 on the undercard of the WBO/WBA world flyweight title fight between Brian “The Hawaiian Punch” Viloria and challenger Juan Francisco Estrada of Mexico.

Promoter and former two division world champion Gerry Peñalosa informed Cebu Daily News that he has cancelled Dodie Boy Jr’s scheduled fight on March 23 at the Cuneta Astrodome against Lizandro delos Santos of Mexico as well as Dave’s fight against another Mexican, Juan Jimenez on the undercard.

This will be Dodie Boy’s second fight outside the country when he fights Ngaotawan Sithsaithong (10W-8L-1D, 5 KOs) in a scheduled eight rounder while Dave, in his overseas debut, is penned to fight Cheroenchai Sithsaithong (4W-3L, 3 KOs) set for six rounds.

Dodie Boy Jr. had an impressive overseas debut on the undercard of Pacquiao-Marquez 4 last December when he stopped Jesus Lule of Florida in two rounds.

Dave on the other hand, stopped Yodpichai Sithsaithong of Thailand in four rounds last August in Mandaluyong City.

Together with the ALA Gym’s Milan Melindo, the Peñalosa brothers will add more Filipino flavor to the blockbuster Macau fight card promoted by Top Rank. /correspondent Rene Bonsubre Jr.
