Man takes hostage wife, 2 children in Caloocan

MANILA, Philippines—A father took hostage his family at their home in Caloocan City Thursday morning, police said.

Desk Supervisor Ronaldo Param said the still unidentified head of a family took hostage his wife and two children inside their house on Phase 2 in Barangay (village) 176, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City around 9:30 a.m.

The incident is still ongoing as of posting, Param said.

According to Param, the information reaching their station said the suspect is armed with a kitchen knife.

As of the latest, Param said the two children have already been freed unhurt about an hour ago.

He said Bagong Silang chief of police, Superintendent Carlito Dimalanta, and Substation commander, Inspector Leoben Ong rushed to the location to negotiate for the release of the victims.

A radio report said the partners had a heated argument earlier in the day, prompting the suspect to take hostage his family.
