Gold Funds 2011 books USCBHABA finals ticket
THE YOUTHFUL Gold Funds 2011 advanced to the finals of the University of San Carlos Boys High Alumni Basketball Association (USCBHABA) after outlasting Le Grans Cargo, 45-39, in the Division 2 semifinals over the weekend at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.
The two-man gang of Dave Guardiario and Anthony Romaguerra accounted for all but six points for Gold Funds in the low-scoring affair. Guardiario had 20 points while Romaguerra added 19.
Gold Funds will now await the result of the other semis pairing pitting the defending champion Yayoy’s Grill and Lite Shipping.
The sixth-seeded Lite Shipping upset the third-ranked Lux, 62-56, in the quarterfinals.
In spite of a twice-to-beat disadvantage, Lite rose to the occasion behind AJ San Juan, who led the way with 13 points.
