Cabbie stabbed by robbers in QC
A taxi driver was robbed and killed by five men who posed as passengers on Sunday night in Quezon City. Despite his wounds though, Victor Rapis, 53, managed to drive his cab until it hit a tricycle in Barangay Holy Spirit. He later died at FEU Hospital due to a stab wound in the chest. Case investigator SPO1 Cristituto Zaldarriaga said Rapis was able to relate the incident to a security guard of the hospital before he passed away. According to him, five men flagged down his cab and asked to be brought to Barangay Holy Spirit. Man killed by cops for taking ex-lover hostage
A man who took hostage his former lover died when the police shot him after he started stabbing her Monday afternoon in Parañaque City. Alexander Modesto 28, was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital while Alicia Nulla, 40 was reported to be in stable condition despite four stab wounds in the leg and another one in the chest. At 3:30 p.m., San Isidro policemen led by Insp. Bernardo Mendoza responded when they learned about a hostage taking at a house in United Parañaque Subdivision 5, where Nulla works as laundry woman. City police chief Senior Supt. Billy Beltran said a drunken Modesto came to the house, argued with Nulla regarding their recent break-up and then took her hostage. NAMFREL executive council chair Corazon de la Paz-Bernardo will speak at the University of the East (UE)-Caloocan forum on governance issues at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the multipurpose hall of the Dr. Lucio Tan Building.
