Tabal wins second crown of the weekend after topping 10k category of PhilHealth Run

Mary Joy Tabal  capped her weekend with another victory as she took home the women’s 10k crown of the PhilHealth Run For Mother and Child Protection at the Cebu Business Park yesterday.

After bagging the 6k crown in last Saturday’s Philippine Christian Gospel School (PCGS) Fun Run, Tabal continued her winning ways by clocking 39 minutes and 14 seconds to secure the 10k title of the race.

Tabal was trailed by Lovely Fe Andrin, who clocked 43 minutes and 55 seconds, while Mary Jane Beboso placed third with a time of 49 minutes and 20 seconds.

Christy Sevellino-Tutor, meanwhile, placed first in the 18k category with a time of one hour, 25 minutes and 41 seconds.

Jhean Andrin came in  second with a time of 1:25.42 while Virginia Parajenog rounded off the top three female runners, clocking 1:31.08.

Kenyan runners Isaac Simat and Josphat Kiptanui took home the men’s titles in the 18k and 10k distances.

Simat clocked one hour and 57 seconds to win the 18k title while Kiptanui finished in 32 minutes and 46 seconds to rule the 10k category.

Fellow Kenyans James Mibac (1:01.52) and Abraham Missous (1:01.56) finished second and third, respectively, in the 18k race.

John Philip Dueñas (34:02) and Jobert Carolino (34:09) were second and third, respectively in the 10k distance.

Cherry Andrin and Joel Delposo topped the 5k race with times of 13:42 and 16:32, respectively. Jorry Ycong and Lynle Cardenas ruled the 3k race, finishing in 10:23 and 13:42, respectively.

Around 3,000 runners swarmed the Cebu Business Park for the race, which was held in line with the celebration of PhilHealth’s 18th year anniversary.

The race was held simultaneously in 18 cities around the country. Aside from Cebu, races were also held in Manila, Baguio, Dagupan, Tuguegarao, Clark, Malolos, Laguna, Batangas, Legazpi, Iloilo, Tacloban, Zamboanga, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Koronadal, Marawi and Butuan.
