THE ALASKA Aces prevailed in a battle of unbeaten teams, coming up with a better endgame poise to down the Barako Bull Energy Colas, 77-73, last night in the 38th PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Aces took sole possession of the solo lead with a clean 3-0 (win-loss) slate, while the Energy Colas absorbed their first loss to drop to 2-1.
In the second game, the Petron Blaze Boosters logged their second staight win with a 105-90 victory over sister team Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings.
Alaska showed the needed composure in the closing minutes, finishing the game strong after allowing Barako Bull to come back from a 17-point second quarter deficit.
Barako Bull trailed Alaska for most part of the first half but made a big turnaround in the third quarter when they wrested the lead, 60-59, going into the final period.
