IT’S ON TO THE national finals for the defending champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles after they barely broke a sweat in defeating the New Ormoc National High School Eagles, 102-49, in the NBTC regionals last Saturday night at the Ormoc Superdome in Ormoc.
The reigning national champions were hardly ever challenged as they got off to a fast start and raced to a humongous first half lead.
They turned up the jets even more in the second half to stamp their class in the one-sided affair and gain the chance to defend their crown in the high-stakes nationals slated March 1 to 3 in Manila.
The writing was on the wall as early as the first half, which ended in favor of the Magis Eagles, 43-20. They cruised to the easy victory not so long after, led by big man Zachary Huang, who had a game-high 22 points.
Reigning Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) juniors MVP Dawn Ochea tallied 18 markers while former JR. NBA standouts Rendell Senining and Miguel Competente added 12 apiece. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
