LP supporter hurt in shooting after proclamation rally–police

MANILA, Philippines — A supporter of the Liberal Party was shot by a still unidentified suspect after the proclamation rally Tuesday evening at the Plaza Miranda in Manila.

Senior Police Officer 2 Manuelito Vivar of Manila Police District station 3 said Yasen Ibrahim, 49, was shot on Hidalgo corner Barbosa street in Manila around 7:30 p.m. or 30 minutes after the rally ended.

Reports said the victim was a volunteer organizer of LP.

Vivar said Ibrahim was shot twice and was rushed to Manila Medical Center while the gunman escaped.

A radio report said President Benigno Aquino III, who attended the LP event, had left at the time of the shooting.
