MANILA, Philippines – The Team Pnoy proclamation rally on Tuesday is all set at historical Plaza Miranda with President Benigno Aquino III expected to endorse the candidates.

“Plaza Miranda is the bedrock of democracy…It is the place of struggle where LP (Liberal Party) has been known for its principled, platform based campaign,” Deputy Speaker Lorenzo “Erin” Tanada III, also a Team PNoy spokesperson said at a press conference on Monday.

Plaza Miranda, currently a freedom park for mass actions along Hidalgo in Quiapo, Manila was once the center of the country’s political discourse. A bomb exploded in 1971 during the LP’s campaign injuring nine people including former Senate President Jovito Salonga.

Aside from the 12 senatorial candidates, more or less 8,000 supporters were expected to attend the proclamation rally.

Tentatively, Tanada said, celebrity couple Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzalez will be the moderators at Tuesday’s gathering.
