Eight police officials feted in PNP anniversary celebration

EIGHT policemen were awarded in the 22nd PNP anniversary celebration of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7).

PNP Chief Alan Purisima led the awarding rites.

“I commend you for doing your job in the region,” Purisima told the awardees which included Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador Jr, chief of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), Supt. Rodolfo Albotra Jr. and PO2 Roderick Balili of the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) for the provincial police level.

Their awards stemmed from the apprehension of Jayme Silverio and six others who were arrested last Jan. 24 for making unlicensed firearms in Danao City, northern Cebu.

Several firearms and gun parts were also seized during the operation.

The other awardees were Supt. Pual Labra II, chief of the Regional Intelligence Division (RID), Chief Insp. George Ylanan and SPO1 Brazilio Borinaga for the arrest of Fernando Dorimon, tagged as the number one most wanted person in Central Visayas.

Dorimon was arrested in Lanao Del Norte on Jan. 4 for multiple murder charges.

Dorimon was accused as one of the gunmen in the killing of seven persons in La Libertad, Negros Oriental.

Dorimon has P300,000 bounty on his head.

Supt. Alet Virtucio, deputy provincial director in Negros Oriental, and PO2 Glenn Omnos were also awarded for the confiscation of 17 assorted firearms which were about to be shipped to Mindanao.

The awardees were given Medalya Ng Kagalingan.

Veteran tri-media personality Pablito “Bobby” Nalzaro was also given a PNP civilian award.
