MANILA, Philippines — Tropical depression Ofel (international name: Usagi) has weakened into a low pressure area, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Saturday evening.
In its 11 p.m. bulletin, the state weather bureau said Ofel was last spotted 220 kilometers northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, and moving in a west-northwestward direction “slowly.”

Pagasa said no tropical cyclone wind signal was raised in many parts of the country due to Ofel.
It is also not directly affecting the land areas and coastal waters of the country.
“Ofel has become a remnant low pressure area over Southern Taiwan and may dissipate within the next 12 hours,” said Pagasa in its bulletin.
“Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property,” it added.
