Caught burgling neighbor’s house

A 24-YEAR-OLD man was arrested for allegedly burgling the house of his neighbor in barangay Poblacion, Pinamungajan, southern Cebu.

Junrex Pono was identified by Roy Baroman, 54, as one of the seven persons who ransacked his house in sitio Latid at dawn Thursday.

Baroman said he was sleeping in his room when he was awakened by a noise.

Baroman said he went out of his room to check and was shocked to see Pono and six other neighbors inside his house.

The houseowner said the intruders scampered upon seeing him.

Baroman said he later discovered that valuables worth P20,000 were missing.

Police said the burglars entered the house by destroying a window.

Pono’s alleged cohorts were identified as Glen Isok, 19; Pilmor Isok, 20; Jonathan Cerna, 18; Leobert Gino, 18; Leonel Pono, 18; and Jay-ar Pono, 18.

Fire razes house in Talisay

A FIRE believed to have been caused by electrical misuse razed a house in barangay Tabunok, Talisay City, southern Cebu.

The fire started at 8:45 p.m. on Friday in one of the rooms of the house owned by 70-year-old widow Belen Bao in Miami Homes Subdivision in sitio Nonoc.

SFO1 Marcelino Aguilar said firefighters were able to put out before it spread to other houses.

Damage was pegged at P300,000.

 Former tanod nabbed for drugs

A FORMER barangay tanod was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in barangay Arpili, Balamban town, western Cebu on Friday night.

Maximo Tranilla, 41, was arrested shortly after he allegedly sold a pack of shabu worth P1,500 to a policeman who acted as a buyer.

Police seized five small packs believed to contain shabu from Tranilla.

3 men caught with guns

POLICE arrested three men caught possessing firearms in a checkpoint in barangay Poblacion III, Carcar City, southern Cebu.

Police seized a .38 revolver and a .45 caliber pistol from Luiseto Alcuizar, 22,  Nicumedis Romero, 24, and Jerome Fransing Floreta, 22.

Police said the three men were on board a motorcycle which was flagged down in a checkpoint around 7 p.m. Friday.
