MANILA, Philippines – The Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats party is mulling to carry national candidates from outside its group.

House minority leader Danilo Suarez, the political party’s vice chairperson, said that they will certainly carry Zambales Representative Milagros “Mitos” Magsaysay in its slate.

But he said that their party could also include in its slate the President’s cousin Paolo “Bam” Aquino, the Senate President’s son Cagayan Representative Jack Enrile, and possibly Senator Francis Escudero.

He clarified that he was not speaking on behalf of Lakas for the three other senatorial bets but said that fellow members were also entertaining the idea of having guest candidates join their senatorial ticket.

“Number one for us is Mitos, and well, we will carry Bam Aquino as his father’s a good friend, so far [that’s all]. We will carry Jack Enrile because of his father and he’s also a colleague in the House, Chiz Escudero,” he said.

“Politics has changed” this time, he said, as different parties could share common candidates.

The Liberal Party and United Nationalist Alliance share between them three senatorial candidates – Senators Francis Escudero and Loren Legarda, and former MTRCB chief Grace Poe-Llamanzares.

“Sigurista sila (They’re not taking any chances),” said the Lakas official, referring to the guest candidates.
