Pardo group conquers 1st Sinulog Choral Competition

THE Sta. Maria – Sunrise Village Choir ruled the 1st Sinulog Choral Competition.

The choir which represented the Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parish wowed the crowd and impressed the judges with their rendition of Manny Lapincao’s “Sto. Niño Gugma Ko” and an African worship song “Bonse Aba”.

The first Sinulog Choral Competition had its grand finals last Thursday at the Plaza Sugbu.

“I am so happy since the late night practices are all worth it and we offer this to Senor Sto. Nino.” said Hidle Lyn Resureccion, the group’s lead singer.

Benefit concert

They are planning to mount a benefit concert in May, said Rodolfo Denolan, the choir conductor.

The group won P 20,000.00 and a Sinulog Trophy.

The Cebu Male Singers from St. Therese of the Child Jesus in Lahug, Cebu took second place in which they used props like green masks, light pendant, and had their arm tattooed. They received Php 15,000.00 and a trophy.

The third placer was the Fidelis Choir of the Redemptorist Church. The group received P 10,000.00 and a Trophy.

The competition had its elimination round last Jan. 5 with eight contestants.
