PH Navy riders take top 8 spots of 10th stage

Bikers from the Philippine Navy-Standard Insurance team dominated the 10th stage of the Ronda Pilipinas 2013 yesterday as they took the top eight spots after an 82-kilometer race from Vigan to Laoag City.

Seven of the eight top placers for Philippine Navy-Standard Insurance finished with identical times of one hour, 43 minutes and 45 seconds while the eighth finished just 20 seconds behind.

After a close review of the results, Dante Cagas emerged on top followed by Lloyd Lucien Reynante, George Oconer, Eusebio Quiñones, Santy Barnachea, Reinhard Gorantes and Daniel Asto, respectively. Jan Paul Morales rounded up the top eight finishers for Philippine Navy-Standard Insurance as he clocked 1:44:05.

The dominating finish for Philippine Navy pulled the team to second place in the overall team classification next to the PLDT/Spyder team. At third is Road Bike Philippines.

Completing the top 10 finishers yesterday were PLDT-Spyder’s Rustom Lim and Ronald Oranza.

Oranza also took the top spot in the overall individual classification after former leader, American Vinyl’s Irish Valenzuela, finished only 43rd yesterday. Former champion Santy Barnachea, despite not winning any stage so far, climbed up to third place.

Oranza was also the leader in the overall sprint classification and the overall individual classification by time for young rider.

Stage 10 passed through the towns of Santo Domingo, San Juan, Sinait, Pinili and Batac, Ilocos Sur.

The next stage will start in Pagudpud town, Ilocos Sur and will finish in Aparri, Cagayan with a total distance of 181 kilometers.
