CENTRAL Visayas (CV) guns for the national title today when they compete in the semifinals, and possibly the finals, of the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball Tournament-of-Champions today at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
CV, a team bannered by stalwarts from Southwestern University, tries to bag the first berth to the finals when it tackles the De La Salle-Lipa-backed Southern Luzon squad at 10 am.
NCR-West, on the other hand, aims for the other finals ticket when it battles the Central Philippines University-led Western Visayas in the ensuing match.
The winners of the said matches will duke it out for the crown on the very same day at 3 pm.
CV surprised everyone with its impressive showing in the prelims, wherein it swept the rest of its assignments, including one over Western Visayas, 25-20, 25-17, that gave the team the top seed in Pool B the other day.
It also won over Victoria, 25-19, 25-17, in the opener, then waylaid Eastern Visayas, 25-15, 25-16, Northern Luzon, 25-11, 25-13, and Western Visayas for a 4-0 (win-loss) mark. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
