ANS guns for first win in Aboitiz Football Cup

FRESH from a successful stint in the recently-held 3rd Sinulog Football Cup, the Abellana National School (ANS) – Pomeroy hopes to climb up to the second spot in the Boys 17 category as the 15th Aboitiz Football Cup resumes action today at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

The ANS-Pomeroy of coach Francis Ramirez is currently at the third place in bracket C as it has yet to win a match in this tournament.

A win against South Hills today will give ANS-Pomeroy its first three points in the tournament and a second place standing replacing idle Ateneo de Cebu (AdC) by virtue of goal difference.

In bracket B, Blessed John hopes to barge into the win column against Springdale.

In bracket A, the University of San Carlos – Basic Education (USC-BED) hopes to strengthen its hold of the top spot with a win against Don Bosco.

In the distaff side, the Cebu International School (CIS) not only hopes to post its first win in bracket A but also aim to climb up the leaderboard as it faces Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion (CIC)- Mandaue.

Two matches will be on hand in bracket B. Bracket leader St. Theresa’s College (STC) goes up against winless South Hills while second-placed San Roque Football Club (SRFC) faces Bright Academy who also has yet to win in the tournament.

One match will be played in each bracket in the Boys 14. In bracket A, Don Bosco 1 is in a tough battle as it faces bracket leader Springdale A while in bracket B, Springdale B will be protecting its current third place standings against Don Bosco 2.
