MANILA, Philippines—A 37-year-old woman was killed Sunday evening allegedly by her father-in-law, who accused her of neglecting his grandchildren.
Mary Jane Maceda, of Oro B St. in Sta. Ana, Manila was knifed in front of her two children and was declared dead on arrival by attending doctors at the Sta. Ana Hospital from a single stab wound in the right shoulder near her neck.
Her alleged attacker, Rodolfo Maceda, 62, fled after the assault and is the subject of a police hunt.
PO3 Alonzo Layugan, of the Manila Police District homicide section, said the incident happened at around 8 p.m. Sunday inside the Maceda home.
Layugan revealed that before the incident, Maceda was in her room with her two children, one of them an 11-year-old boy, when her father-in-law barged in.
The case investigator pointed out that the suspect, who was apparently drunk, confronted his daughter-in-law over her alleged neglect of the care of her children while her husband was working abroad.
